CHS Students Excel at National World Language Exams

For the National Latin Exam, 39 CHS students earned medals or certificates of recognition. 30 students received summa and maxima cum laude medals and ribbons. Students enrolled in all levels of Latin sat for the exam.


Of the students taking the National German Exam, 36 were awarded medals and special recognition on the Presidential Honor Roll for outstanding performance. Seven students received Gold, sixteen received Silver and thirteen received Bronze. The students achieved the highest scores in their percentile groupings and are among the highest scoring students in the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German. Students in all levels of German sat for the exam.


Twenty-four students took the National Spanish Exam in March. Ten students have been awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. Ten students have received Honor Roll for their outstanding performance on the exam. They received the highest score in their percentile grouping and are among the highest scoring out of the 150,000 students registered for the National Spanish Exam throughout the United States. All students enrolled in Spanish 5 Honors participated in the exam.


Two students received bronze medals on the French National Exam, which was taken by over 85,000 students nationwide. Participation in the exam was a student-driven initiative as part of the French Club. Students enrolled in French 5 Honors and AP French were among those who sat for the exam.


The results reflect the strength of the World Languages department and the dedication of the students in their chosen foreign language.
